Four villages to take your time in.

Gordes

Limestone houses, narrow lanes and wide views over the valley. Take a slow walk around the historic centre and leave time to stop at a café.

Explore the village ↗

Roussillon

Warm ochre façades and the colours of the surrounding cliffs make Roussillon quite different from its neighbours. The Ochre Trail is a lovely way to explore the landscape.

Ménerbes

A village of stone houses, galleries and views across the Luberon. Come for a wander through the lanes, then settle in for a leisurely lunch.

Goult

For a quieter village outing, explore Goult’s stone lanes and vaulted passages, then walk up towards the Jerusalem windmill.

Bonnieux itself is worth exploring on foot. Lacoste and Lourmarin offer more village outings for another day.

A taste of Provence.

Lavender, in season

Lavender and lavandin usually flower in June and July, with timing varying by altitude, weather and harvest. Early July can be a good time to look for blooms; September is not lavender-flowering season.

Melons from Cavaillon

Look for Cavaillon melons at summer markets and local produce stalls. Bring one home for an easy lunch on the terrace with bread, tomatoes and something chilled.

Candied fruits from Apt

Apt is known for its candied fruits. Visit La Maison du Fruit Confit to discover this local tradition and pick up a sweet souvenir of Provence.

A car is recommended for exploring the area. Check current opening times and trail access with the local tourist offices, especially during summer fire-risk restrictions.
